Figurative Art and Automata

Welcome to Chomick+Meder, where we specialize in creating figurative art and automata. People often ask us what draws us to making automata. While we do enjoy crafting static figures, there is a unique sensation when they “come to life” and momentarily transport the observer into their mysterious world.
We like to think of our automaton figures as puppets and marionettes, but instead of visible puppeteers, we use mechanisms to control their movements. We employ a variety of mechanisms, ranging from traditional hand-operated, wind-up, and cam-driven systems, to modern programmable, servo-controlled electronics.
Engaging in technical and complex projects allows us to explore new mediums, such as sculpting and printing parts using 3D “virtual clay,” as well as utilizing the latest animatronics to bring realistic movement to our automata.
Thanks for visiting, we look forward to sharing our discoveries, as well as tips, tricks, and techniques through our C+M Videos. For projects not posted on our YouTube channel check out and subscribe to our ChoMeder NEWS-BLOG. Also, follow us on Facebook for updates and announcements.
